You may not cozy up to right wing authoritarianism while calling yourself a “strict constitutionalist.”
You can’t be a “consistent conservative” while you’re courting white nationalism and trying to find a justification for overthrowing a free and fair election. Also, you really don’t get to come to the conclusion that there is no election fraud scheme, help to certify an election, then give political cover to the guy who continues to say it was rigged.
You certainly don’t get to give advice to his legal team on the floor of the Senate, after swearing under oath to be an impartial juror. And you really, really, really don’t get to vote to acquit him for the crime of whipping up a murderous crowd with claims you know to be lies, then sending that crowd to the Capitol to kill a police officer, defecate on the floors, and threaten the lives of your peers.That you defend democracy and the Constitution when they are under siege? It seems you decided from the beginning to throw in your lot with grievance-centered radicalism and widen our divisions rather than trying to bridge them.
