A Glen Ellyn letter to the editor: Today at Memorial Day ceremonies like ours, as well as across the nation, communities will come together to remember and to reflect on the service and sacrifice of those who paid the true cost of freedom - our fallen heroes.
However, this is not a day to remember battles or wars, but a day to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation.
Sadly, many did not return. But their sacrifice was not in vain, for they knew this was the cost of war, paid in blood by those who raised their hand when their country called upon them.
