I hadn’t been downtown in several years and was shocked at the condition of our city.
The Express-News published my letter years ago calling for providing water for the critters. Please go kick the ball elsewhere, be decent and give the animals space. We are allowed to continue to publish our monthly polo magazine with the disclaimer that we are not associated with Ralph Lauren.Re:"What happened in these bank meltdowns," Business, Wednesday: Second, he hopes banks will offer"more attractive rates to savers to retain and attract more deposits," in lieu of investing in U.S. Treasury securities. Raising rates also increases the banks' costs, making them potentially less profitable, and using these funds to pay off previous depositors sounds an awful lot like a Ponzi scheme.
On March 10, Silicon Valley Bank collapsed, due in part from these lower regulatory requirements. Banks need regulations and Congress should act.I remain amazed as to how much Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton gets away with while continuing to hold office. How can he use taxpayer money to settle his own misdeeds?
A letter to the editor recounts that some guy approached him in the grocery store and told him he was too old to be wearing an Air Force T-shirt. The letter writer is 75 and handled the situation diplomatically.
