Letters to the Editor

HB 2127 disregards the unique needs, circumstances and culture of individual communities. Dallas County, with a population of 2.6 million, cannot be governed the same way as Loving County, which has a population of 64 residents.

While the bill was declared unconstitutional by a Travis County judge a few days before it was to go into effect, its supporters have indicated that they will appeal and defend their power grab in court. It is unfortunate that many state representatives and senators have decided that overreaching into local government management would best serve their interests.The Dallas Morning News

I am also a chronic pain patient, and I’ve seen how some attempts by governmental agencies have reduced access to opiate pain reducers to people like me. But I still hope your series, focusing on the illegal access of drugs like fentanyl, will raise the right awareness and just maybe reduce the number of overdose deaths.

I found Burns’ column interesting but deficient. True, interest earned on deposits is certainly much higher today than 18 months ago. Burns, however, directed readers to look at mutual funds and exchange-traded funds for the best market rates.
