SPRING – After Shey Eberwein scored a school record 44 points in The Woodlands’ win Wednesday over Conroe, almost everyone who packed the Grand Oaks High School gym Saturday afternoon eagerly anticipated the encore.Grand Oaks exacted revenge on a 15-point loss to The Woodlands earlier this season to take a 61-49 win at home and make a mess of things at the top of District 13-6A.
Lewis was sensational. He scored a game-high 28 points, knocking in five of nine 3-pointers and showing a diverse offensive skillset.“He had a good Christmas tournament where he started taking good shots and doing things right,” Grand Oaks coach Mike Day said. “He’s just so quick with the ball. He’s very gifted.Lewis was consistent all game and thrived as things heated up late. He scored five points in the first quarter, four in the second, 10 in the third and nine in the fourth.
Lewis, who played JV as a freshman last year, knew The Woodlands would pack the paint on any drives. He took advantage by spotting up and not hesitating on open looks.
