China is probably manipulating its currency to strengthen and not weaken it, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer told House lawmakers on Wednesday during a hearing on trade. In talks with Beijing, the U.S. has demanded a "stable" yuan USDCNY, -0.1940% and on Friday President Donald Trump said a deal had been reached.
Lighthizer told the House Ways & Means Committee that there wasn't an agreement "on anything until there is an agreement on everything" but added he thinks there will be "something" on currency in a deal.
