Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in its almost 20-year-long history.
Lizzo announced the news on Instagram, writing, "I’m the first woman to headline the main stage at @bonnaroo 🤯 It’s about damn time! Y’all ready to watch herstory, b*tch?!?" She'll headline the second night of the festival, which is major — women have held close to top billing on the Bonnaroo lineup before , but have not been official top-3 headliners.
The singer and rapper will be joined at the festival by other women acts with high billing, including Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Rey, and Megan Thee Stallion. The news comes afterof all-male headliners: Rage Against the Machine, Travis Scott, and Frank Ocean. Music festivals very clearly still have a women problem, especially since it took about 20 years for Bonnaroo to have a solo woman headliner.in 2019, "“[Coachella] is just like the rest of the industry, you know what I mean? Going to these festivals, it's the same as any other festival. I feel like most of the time, they’re really lopsided when it comes to booking. It's the same way with bands — there are so many, like, dude bands.
