If your retirement strategy is to withdraw 4% (or more) from savings and maintain or grow your nest egg, investing conservatively might come up short
Glenn RuffenachI keep hearing that I need to invest more aggressively in retirement to ensure my savings last as long as I do.
I have done quite well in the past 30 years or so with a fairly conservative/traditional mix of investments—about 60% in stocks and 40% in bonds. Here’s my question: Does “conservative” still work in retirement? I worry about putting more money in stocks and then getting hit with a repeat of 2007-09 in the markets.
