When Madison returned to Fear the Walking Dead she was made out to be the Rick Grimes of the series, but Troy’s return reveals her true nature.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Although Madison Clark of Fear the Walking Dead has the same main character energy as Rick Grimes from the original The Walking Dead, the most recent episode in season 8 is a reminder that Madison is not really the morally upstanding hero that the show makes her out to be. Fear the Walking Dead is the first spinoff series of The Walking Dead, and is currently airing its eighth and final season.
Madison has always been an integral part of Fear the Walking Dead, though she has a pretty unique history. First she served as the series' protagonist from season 1 to season 4, and was killed by a pack of walkers in the middle of the season. Then, through television magic, Madison returned in season 8, having survived her presumed death, and is now finishing out the series as its main character once again.
Back in Fear the Walking Dead season 3, Troy acted as a main antagonist and took a particular interest in Madison, which sparked a rivalry between the two characters. However, this conflict didn't actually last too long, as Troy ended up dead by the end of the season, courtesy of Madison. Though Troy told Madison that he cared for Nick and had forgiven her for his father's death, when he reveals that he led the horde to Broke Jaw Ranch, Madison does not hesitate in killing him.
Madison's Legacy Proves She Isn't Fear's Version Of Rick Grimes Because Madison's history with Troy shows a darker side of her, even if it was in her past, this proves that she is not Fear the Walking Dead's Rick Grimes. To be fair, that isn't to say that Madison is completely bad or that her good deeds are outweighed by her mistakes. However, when comparing her to Rick, it is clear that they are very different characters.
