State and federal law enforcement officials continued to search for Army reservist Robert Card, the suspect involved in Wednesday’s mass shootings in Lewiston, Maine, as the area’s residents remained under lockdown early on Friday.Thursday’s search primarily focused on a property in Bowdoin believed to be owned by one of Card’s family members, which was surrounded by multiple law enforcement vehicles and armed FBI agents.
The suspect, however, was not found inside the property and law enforcement began to leave the scene after searching for several hours—although it is unclear if Card had been there recently. A local judge granted the state’s request for keeping details of Card’s arrest warrant under seal as authorities were concerned that public disclosure of the information could impede the investigation.
Residents of Lewiston and the nearby city of Lisbon are still under a shelter-in-place order as police warn that the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.that announcements made on the loudspeaker ordering the suspect to surrender were “standard search warrant announcements,” adding: “It is unknown whether Robert Card is in any of the homes law enforcement will search. Law enforcement officials are simply doing their due diligence by tracking down every lead.
