"Around Season 2 or 3, my body started to mature and I started to become a woman," Maisie said in the interview. "But Arya was still very much like trying to be disguised as a boy. I had really short hair and they’d constantly cover me in dirt and shade my nose so it looked really broad and I looked really manly. They’d also put this strap across my chest to flatten any growth that had started.
Rather than feeling excited about or just generally comfortable with her developing body, her having to suppress it for the show led to discomfort with the changes. Maisie definitely isn't alone in this — many people feel uncomfortable with changes in their body, whether it's during puberty or at another time. What's important to remember is that bodies grown and evolve throughout our whole lives, and that's completely normal.
Of course, there's nothing wrong with having a broad nose or a flat chest, but that's not how Maisie felt comfortable. Each of us has certain about our bodies, and aspects of it that we feel more or less comfortable with — and that's OK. What's important is that we are empowered to embrace the parts of ourselves that we want to., and embrace the body she has — rather than obscuring it to play a character.
