Malaysian stocks declined for the second consecutive session Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI FBMKLCI, -0.39% falling 0.4% to 1,457.60.
Sime Darby 4197, +1.72%, a business/consumer services company, was the biggest leader during the session, rising 1.7%, and firm Nestle 4707, +0.65% gained 0.6%. Westports Holdings 5246, +0.60%, which operates in the transportation/logistics space, rounded out the top three leaders on Wednesday, with shares gaining 0.6%.
Elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific region, Hong Kong stocks fell, with the Hang Seng Index HSI, -0.58% down 0.6% 17,568.46, while Japan's NIKKEI 225 Index NIK, -0.33% declined 0.3%. The Shanghai Composite Index SHCOMP, -0.16% of Chinese companies fell 0.2%.
