Robert Ussery is escorted May 24, 2018 out of the federal courthouse after appearing before a federal magistrate. Numerous gun charges stemming from his harassment of Sutherland Springs survivors were dismissed last week after he pleaded guilty to one of them and was sentenced to time served.A conspiracy theorist who tormented survivors of the 2017by claiming that the shooting was a hoax has been released from jail after being sentenced on a gun charge to the 54 months he served awaiting trial.

Chief U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia imposed the time-served sentence and ordered Ussery to serve three years of supervised release with conditions that he not contact survivors of the tragedy. The gun charge grew out of a confrontation between Ussery and the then-pastor of First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, site of the massacre in which a gunman slaughtered 26 worshippers during Sunday services on Nov. 5, 2017.Ussery and his then-girlfriend, Jodie Mann, went to the church March 5, 2018, to press their claims that the tragedy was an invention. On a poster displayed for well-wishers to sign, Mann wrote, “The truth shall set you free.

Ussery and Mann, who called herself “Conspiracy Granny,” were arrested on state charges of resisting arrest, trespassing and other offenses but the state ended its case after the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and federal prosecutors pursued a gun case against the pair.
