A man has admitted to using other peoples’ identities to open credit cards and using them to make more than $400,000 in purchases, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said. Robert Lourenco, 52, of Queens, New York, pleaded guilty to access device fraud before U.S. District Judge Joseph H. Rodriguez, prosecutors said.
Lourenco opened 23 credit cards in the names of three people he had befriended, two of whom were senior citizens, according to the indictment. One of the victims was 78 years old and in the hospital at the time that the accounts were opened, authorities said.
