Man arrested on suspicion of murder in deadly fight in Lemon Grove [Breaking]
A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder in a fight that left another man dead at a Lemon Grove apartment early Monday, a sheriff’s official said Tuesday.
Investigators allege Ernest Kelly killed the 51-year-old victim, whose name was not released, about 2 a.m. at an apartment complex on Grove Street near Lemon Grove Way.He said an argument between Kelly and the victim turned physical. Details about the argument were unclear, Steffen said. When deputies and paramedics arrived, they found the victim in medical distress. They tried to save him, but he died at the scene.
Steffen said the victim’s name will be withheld until the county Medical Examiner’s Office confirms his identity and his family is notified of his death.In the first case, 40-year-old Aylmer Navarrete was stabbed to death just before 5 a.m. Sunday at a home on Bonita Road near Plaza Bonita Road. His girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, Ulises Gutierrez, 33, was arrested as the suspect, Steffen said.
In the second case, a 38-year-old man was fatally shot at Lemon Grove Park on Washington Street near Alton Drive about 8 p.m. Sunday. His name was withheld, and no one was in custody as of Tuesday.
