A 42-year-old Merchantville man was charged in a shooting that wounded another man at a Pennsauken bar over the weekend, authorities said Wednesday. Carl Young face charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons offenses, Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Pennsauken Police Chief Philip Olivo said in a joint statement.
Young shot the 35-year-old man, also of Merchantville, in the face shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday at Bryson’s Pub on the 3400 block of Cove Road, prosecutors alleged. The attack stemmed from a “verbal dispute” involving the men in the parking lot, according to the statement. Police arrested Young after he fled the shooting and recovered a weapon, authorities said. The victim was treated at a local hospital and released, according to the prosecutor’s office.
