A man was fatally shot in the unincorporated section of Capitol Heights Thursday night, Prince George’s County police said.
Officers responded around 10:50 p.m. to the 4100 block of Southern Avenue and found a man with gunshot wounds outside, police said. He died hours later at a hospital, according to police. Department of Administration spokesperson Tatyana Warrick said Thursday that the man, who was shirtless and had a holstered handgun, approached the governor’s office on the first floor of the Capitol around 2 p.m. Wednesday. Warrick says after being arrested on a firearms violation, he returned to the outside of the Capitol around 9 p.m. with an assault rifle and was taken into custody. Evers' spokesperson declined to comment.
