A 20-year-old man sitting in a parked car was shot through the windshield and killed in City Heights on Thursday afternoon, San Diego police said. The shooting occurred about 1:20 p.m. at a strip mall parking lot on Marlborough Avenue near University Avenue. Police said the gunman walked up and shot the victim multiple times. Lt. Jud Campbell said it appears the victim was targeted.
The shooter ran to a vehicle and left after the shooting, Campbell said. The getaway vehicle was described only as light-colored, and a detailed description of the shooter was not available. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he died, Campbell said. The man's name was not released. Detectives were searching for evidence and witnesses at the scene, the lieutenant said.
