A contractor from Philadelphia died Friday while working on a condominium building in Sea Isle City.
, died when an eighth-floor concrete balcony on the north side of the Spinnaker Condominium complex’s south tower collapsed onto the balcony just below it on the seventh floor.
A spokeswoman with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which is investigating the accident, confirmed Monday that the crew from Ferguson Contracting, Inc., of Yardley, Pennsylvania, was working on the balconies. The collapse occurred around 2:20 p.m. and crews raced to coordinate a rescue plan, but the side of the building was deemed unsafe, prompting an evacuation of the structure.
Pereira was declared dead shortly before 10 p.m., police said. Two workers on the eighth floor suffered minor injuries in the incident.
