According to Tucson police, 24-year-old Gavin Lee Stansell was being evicted when he fatally shot the county constable, an apartment manager and a neighbor before turning the gun on himself. Federal investigators concluded that the lower receiver of the firearm used in the shooting was bought by Quintana in November 2021 as he allegedly signed a form stating he wasn’t acquiring it on behalf of another person.
"After agents presented text messages contradicting his story, Quintana admitted he lied and that he purchased the lower receiver on behalf of the individual who later perpetrated the mass shooting," read a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
