Sheldon Reece was 24 when police say he fatally shot Sean Jackson, 34, in 2018.Sheldon Reece, 28, was convicted of third-degree murder, carrying a concealed gun without a license, and two counts of recklessly endangering another person. He originally had been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Sean E. “Shizz” Jackson, 34, but the charge was changed as part of a plea deal.
His trial had been repeatedly continued since 2020. A judge sentenced him last week to consecutive sentences that add up to a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of 50 years for the four convictions. Jackson was talking to a man in a car in the parking lot of Double D’s at 526 South 19th Street before 1 a.m. when police say Reece confronted him and shot him.
Police believe the man in the car was mad at Jackson because he previously took his car. Reece was a friend of the man in the car, prosecutors said.After the killing, Reece, who was 24 at the time, fled the area. The U.S. Marshals task force eventually found him in New York in March 2019. “Task Force members pursued leads throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland until the afternoon of March 8, when they learned Reece would be found in New York City,” according to a news release. “Shortly after 2 a.m., new information led members…to a hotel in Long Island City , New York, where Reece was taken into custody without incident.”said “his passion was cars, dirt bikes, and anything that contained a engine.
