According to police, the victim was taken to a medical facility shortly after being shot by her boyfriend.
When officers arrived, they found the man dead in the parking lot from the apparent gunshot wound, according to the outlet.
He added the couple arrived at the Dollar General store together before the shooting happened, although it is not known what happened in the moments leading up to the shots being fired. Last year, the murder-suicide rate was 573, this was down on the 2019 figure of 632, which was the highest number in the past seven years.
