A man was shot and killed while driving in East Oakland late Wednesday evening, and the suspect was arrested on suspicion of murder.
EAST OAKLAND — A man was shot and killed while driving a vehicle in East Oakland on Wednesday night, leading them to crash the car with a passenger inside, according to authorities.
The victim, a 34-year-old man with an unknown city of residence, was driving a vehicle eastbound on the 7300 block of MacArthur Boulevard with a female passenger when a man began shooting at the car from the sidewalk around 8:25 p.m., police said. The driver was hit by the gunfire, and the vehicle crashed at the intersection of MacArthur and 74th Avenue.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The female passenger was transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries. The alleged shooter, 29, was identified as a person that knows the victims and was arrested in the area on suspicion of murder. There was no information released regarding a motive.
