SAN JOSE – A man shot about a week ago in San Jose has died of his injuries, police said Friday.
The shooting happened around 8:20 p.m. on June 29 in the area of Dixie Drive and Lanai Avenue, San Jose police Sgt. Jorge Garibay said in a statement. Officers called there found the man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. On Friday, police received word the man had died, Garibay said. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity once it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.The death marked the city’s 20th homicide of 2023. At this time last year, San Jose police had investigated 19 homicides in the city.
