Man walking on SR-94 in Sherman Heights struck, killed by SUV [Breaking]
A man walking in lanes of highway traffic in Sherman Heights Thursday night was struck and killed by an oncoming SUV, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
Multiple witnesses reported minutes before the crash seeing a man walking in lanes of traffic on east state Route 94 near 22nd Street, Officer Jesse Matias said Friday. A Cadillac SUV struck the pedestrian around 8:20 p.m. He suffered fatal injuries and died before he could be taken to a hospital.The 50-year-old man driving the Cadillac pulled off the highway and called 911, Matias said.
Investigators say the driver was sober but are looking into whether the pedestrian was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Matias said.
