OAKLAND — A man was wounded in an exchange of gunfire Tuesday night with Oakland Housing Authority police officers at an apartment complex, authorities said.No officers were injured.
The shooting happened about 10:23 p.m. Tuesday at an an OHA apartment complex in the 1700 block of 85th Avenue. In a news release, OHA officials said the officers were responding to “an emergency call for service,” but did not elaborate on the nature of the call. When police arrived at the complex, the man began shooting at them as he stood outside, prompting them to return fire and wound the man, authorities said. A gun was recovered.As per protocol, the shooting was being investigated by the Oakland police homicide unit. The OHA officers have been placed on administrative leave and the agency is doing an administrative investigation.
The OHA is asking that anyone in the area who has information about the shooting or video recordings to contact Oakland police., a man who had just hit a female OHA officer with a car on Ninth Avenue in East Oakland was shot in the arm by another OHA officer who was the first to respond to the scene — and was married to the officer who had been struck by the car.
