Here’s why we are backing the underdog when Princeton plays Missouri during the NCAA Tournament.
New Jersey’s Tigers have been at their best when the least has been expected of them.
This season, Princeton is 5-1 against the spread as an underdog, most recently pulling outright upsets over Yale in the Ivy League title game and the stunner over Arizona in the first round. The past two wins have come against the best two defenses and rebounding units Princeton played this season. Mitch Henderson’s group will face easier matchups against a Missouri team that ranks 203rd in the nation in opponent shooting percentage and 359th in rebounding rate.

Princeton Stuns Arizona 59-55 in March MadnessTosan Evbuomwan and Princeton used a late-game run to earn the school’s first NCAA Tournament win in 25 years, topping No. 2 seed Arizona 59-55. The 15th-seeded Tigers scored the final nine points to finish the upset, holding the Pac-12 Tournament champions scoreless over the final 4:21. Evbuomwan scored 15 points in Princeton’s first tournament victory since beating UNLV in 1998 when current coach Mitch Henderson was a player for the Tigers. Princeton advanced to play seventh-seeded Missouri in the second round of the South Region. The Tigers beat Utah State 76-65.
