One year after signing the lease at City Center Bishop Ranch, the popular Japanese noodle and tempura spot unveiled its third Bay Area location.
San Ramon, it is finally time for Sanuki-style udon., the restaurant specializing in made-to-order noodles known for their chewiness, square shape and flat edges, opened its doors last week, nearly one year after signing a lease at City Center Bishop Ranch.
The fast-casual restaurant, the chain’s third in the Bay Area, is located at 6000 Bollinger Canyon Road, Suite 1200, next to Boba Guys, in San Ramon, and features a theater kitchen where you can see the noodle magic happening. The other two Marugame Udon locations are in Berkeley and San Francisco, so this is the first in Contra Costa County.
At Marugame’s March 9 grand opening the restaurant offered the first 100 guests a free bowl of udon for their next visit. The menu also features teriyaki bowls, savory Japanese beef curries, ramen-like tonkotsu and in a signature housemade dashi broth. Marugame’s other specialty is made-to-order tempura, and the restaurant offers eight varieties, from sweet potato and shrimp to squid and crab, for about $2 per piece.
