'Unprecedented' wildfires ravage the Arctic Early Wednesday morning, five vehicles and a single motorhome caught fire, the fire service reported. Weakened trees, in several instances, have fallen on powerlines, roads and the Alaska Railroad tracks. The Matanuska Electric Association is still working to repair or replace power poles and downed powerlines.There are 1,028 structures still threatened by the fire, according to a borough property database.
