Iman Vellani Captures Kamala Khan's Voice Perfectly Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant #1 is an impressive writing debut for Vellani. It also perfectly introduces Kamala Khan into the X-Men's world. Many fans were upset with Marvel killing off Kamala, just to bring her back as a mutant, but her new X-Men era is already proving to be iconic. The young hero came out as a mutant to her best friend Bruno, and infiltrates an Orchis summer camp to fight back against them.
