An investigation by detectives found the incident began as an argument between Patel and two unknown men, one of whom tried to take a cup from the beverage area.
The man left the store, but the argument continued as Patel followed him out, still filming. The man then assaulted Patel, striking him in the head multiple times and knocking him to the ground. He took Patel’s phone and fled the scene.
An arrest warrant was issued Friday for William Jones, 28, of Abingdon. He turned himself in at the Harford Detention CenterWednesday. He is being held without bail after an appearance before a District Court commissioner. No charges have been filed against the second man in the store with Jones. The investigation is ongoing.
