Medical groups urge healthcare facilities to require workers to take the Covid vaccine
As debate continues over how to handle healthcare workers hesitant to get a Covid-19 vaccine, a coalition of prominent healthcare organizations on Tuesday called on hospitals and other medical facilities to mandate the shot for their employees.
They say that raising inoculation rates for healthcare personnel is critical to curbing the spread of Covid-19 and highlighted the fact that vaccines have been shown to be safe and effective. The statement also notes that a similar strategy proved successful with the flu shot as organizations that mandated the jab saw compliance jump from 69.6% to 94.4%.by a team of 30 experts over two months, includes guidelines for how medical facilities could implement the mandate. “We think [it] will provide support for organizations that were thinking about making the vaccine a condition of employment for their health-care workers,” Hilary M.
