Black leaders in the Bay Area and Galveston County fill a broad range of roles in education, business and faith communities. From the owner of a restaurant who teaches kids to cook in an outreach program to the executive of a consulting firm that helped companies switch gears during the pandemic, one thing they have in common is giving back. Meet some of those leaders:

Within three years that included the pandemic, Clayborn transformed the chamber into a culturally diverse entity through innovative fundraising and inclusive programs. In December 2020, the Graysons opened a second barber college at 100 Perkins Ave., Suite G, in League City, changing the name of both schools to“We specialize in helping people transition from one career to another and saw a need,” said Dominique Grayson, 36.

Pulliam serves on boards and committees for organizations including League City Regional Chamber of Commerce, and sees his own experiences in overcoming obstacles as a positive. When the pandemic hit, they moved services outdoors for their multigenerational, multicultural congregation of about 250.
