Brands have even co-opted the phrase in social media posts and email subject lines, and Future went as far as releasing a “Hot Boy Summer” Spotify playlist. By moving forward with the trademark, theMC—who’s also known as “Hot Girl Meg” and calls her fans “hotties”—takes rightful ownership of her viral saying.Trademarking catchphrases is nothing new for rappers.
