One vehicle stopped short on purpose, forcing the victim's car to strike a third vehicle in Hillside before he was robbed, police said.
A 34-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint at a Hillside intersection Sunday after his car was hit in a crash orchestrated by the drivers of two other vehicles, authorities said.
The victim was driving west on Winans Avenue around 9 p.m. when a silver BMW stopped suddenly at the intersection with Schley Street, according toAs the Chatham resident attempted to avoid striking the BMW, an Audi sped up behind the BMW, forcing the victim’s car to collide with the Audi, according to police.
The driver of the BMW then made a U-turn and pulled behind the victim, boxing his car in, police said. A man then got out of the BMW and threatened the victim, showing him a gun in his waistband and saying, “You want to get killed? Give me your money,” authorities said. The victim exited his vehicle before the robber took his wallet, which was left in his car and had about $50 in it, police said.Police later learned the Audi had been stolen earlier in Woodland Park.Our journalism needs your support.
