A Mississippi softball umpire was reportedly punched by a woman in a 'mother of the year' shirt.

reports Kiara Thomas, a mother of an unidentified child, was asked to leave because she was cursing loudly during a game over the weekend in Laurel, Mississippi. Thomas left at a coach’s behest, but instead of going home, she allegedly waited for USFA umpire Kristi Moore to finish the game and confronted her, punching Moore.

Moore, who suffered a black eye, said parents like Thomas have made jobs harder for sports referees and umpires. Moore said she’s been calling games for 10 years but was filling in for another umpire who was out sick. She said most softball umpires are paid $40 or less per game, and do the job for the love of the sport and the kids.
