Two Grand Prairie schools locked down Tuesday afternoon after police received an urgent report of a hostage situation.
Students from Grand Prairie High School’s criminal justice pathway program were participating in a drill regarding hostage negotiations in an isolated wing of campus, district spokesman Sam Buchmeyer said.Both Grand Prairie High School and nearby Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy went into a brief lockdown.
Police “confirmed the event was only a classroom learning activity, and that no students or staff were ever in any danger,” Buchmeyer said.
