Guys like Alex Cora of the Boston Red Sox, Torey Lovullo of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Bud Black of the Colorado Rockies seem safe despite underperformance by their respective clubs. They signed contract extensions before the season.Martinez was placed on the griddle earlier in the season when his club, sans Bryce Harper, opened 14-22. They’ve won 45 games and played .592 ball over the last 76 games since then to jump back into contention.
