All offseason long, all we heard about was how well-coached this Carolina Panthers football team would be and how it was a staff perfectly built for a rookie quarterback to succeed.
Four games is a little too early for me to gauge whether or not a head coach, a quarterback, or the marriage itself will work out. But yesterday was bad football. The Panthers once again had nothing going on the ground and refused to push the ball vertically. "Because of their linemen, because of the threat of a blitz, you had to build in some short stuff and be ready. It’s kind of similar in what the Chargers did last week," Reich said when asked why they lived underneath."They had 400 yards of passing and most of it was just short, dink and dump. I’m not going to go into all the strategy reasons why that is. You got to have a mix. We had some shots called. We had a few shots called. Some we had to check out of for various reasons.
Arguably the most crucial parts of the game, the end of the first half and the final Carolina drive of the game, the offense lacked urgency.
