Five teens have been arrested and accused of involvement in a mass brawl outside a Bethesda, Maryland, Metro station after a high school football game, the Montgomery County Police Department announced Friday.
The fight took place Sept. 1 after a game between Walter Johnson and Bethesda-Chevy Chase high schools. The teens were arrested on charges including armed robbery and first- and second-degree assault.
Video of the violence, which included a pack of teens kicking and stomping their victim, quickly surfaced on social media.“No one takes any pleasure in seeing young people getting arrested. However, what was observed Friday was unacceptable and people got hurt,” Montgomery County Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Earl Stoddard said in a statement posted on X.
Two other suspects, one 15 and one 16, who were not named by police, are charged as juveniles with robbery and second-degree assault. The other two suspects, also not named by police, both 15, face first-degree assault charges.• Brad Matthews can be reached at
