Shakiro Dejuan Smith, 23, faces up to 99 years in prison for the murder of 30-year-old Marcus “Dale” Martin.
A Montgomery man pleaded guilty to murder charges in the 2019 slaying of another man during an argument in an apartment, Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey announced Tuesday.
Shakiro Dejuan Smith, 23, faces up to 99 years in prison for the Aug. 29, 2019 murder of 30-year-old Marcus “Dale” Martin.Citing evidence in the case, Bailey said Martin invited Smith to his apartment when the men got into an argument, according toSmith then pulled out a gun on Martin and shot him multiple times as Martin tried to get away. Smith also stole property before fleeing the scene, according to an affidavit filed in the case.
“To shoot and kill someone in cold blood in their own home is truly despicable,” Bailey said in a statement. “My office is dedicated to making sure Shariko Smith’s sentence reflects the consequences of committing this senseless, violent crime. We will do everything in our power to make sure justice is served for Mr. Martin and his loved ones.”
