"It was like a maze of oh my gosh, we turned a corner behind the shed, and there's more, and then oh, look, there's more," Richland County Humane Society's Managing Director, Linda Chambers, said. "In that moment, it was we just have to get them out," Chambers said. "We just have to get them out. Once we get them back to the shelter, we're going to deal with it, which we did. But it was just, we couldn't leave any behind at that point. It was such a bad situation."
"He said they weren't his dogs, which I mean, I guess you would say that when you're in that situation," she said. "He said I'm taking them from breeders and trying to get them adopted. Isabelle, it was not a situation. I mean, there were dogs obviously being born in the basement, and then when the sheriff pressed him, he refused to talk."
