53% of adults believe Donald Trump violated the law in Georgia by allegedly attempting to interfere in the 2020 election, according to a new APNORC poll. For allegations regarding the Capitol riot (49%) only a plurality said his actions were illegal.

The new poll from the Associated Press and NORC shows a majority of adults do not believe Trump violated the law with his handling of classified documents, alleged hush money payment to two women, or with his alleged role in the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

Most did say the indictment against Trump was politically motivated , including a majority of independents and Republicans . The former president is still being investigated by a grand jury in Georgia for his alleged interference in the 2020 election in the Peach State, along with an investigation by special counsel Jack Smith for Trump's alleged mishandling of classified documents and involvement in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
