Former MTV host Riki Rachtman is bringing his one-man show, “One Foot in the Gutter,” May 10 to the Hobart Art Theater in Hobart, Indiana, and May 11 to the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, Illinois.
Riki Rachtman will appear May 10 at Hobart Art Theater and May 11 at Arcada Theatre with his one-man show, “One Foot in the Gutter.” He tells stories about his life owning the Cathouse in Los Angeles and hosting “Headbanger’s Ball” on MTVs.He was the host of “Headbangers Ball” on MTV from 1990-95 and co-owner of the infamous Cathouse nightclub in Hollywood. He rubbed elbows with the rock stars and actors of the day and lived to tell the tale — literally.
“A lot of the things people say is that they’re surprised at how funny it is and how emotional parts of the show get, because I deal with very serious things. I think people thought I was going to get up there and go, ‘Let me tell you about the time I worked with Guns ‘n’ Roses.’ It’s not like that. I mean yeah, I do all that stuff, but there’s so much more to it. It’s very personal.”
He talks about his experiences with drugs, debauchery, porn stars, going to jail and going broke. He’s been sober since 1988. “The show everybody always wants to know about is Action Park with Alice in Chains,” he said. “I found raw footage of the day we shot it and I break it down.”Another infamous episode people want to know about was when Nirvana appeared on “Headbangers Ball.”
