The man is employed by the Paterson Fire Department, which has an emergency medical services unit, investigators said.

A Paterson EMS worker has been accused of stealing a gold chain from a man who had just been arrested, authorities said.

The bag was left on a gurney when the officers escorted him into a bathroom to get changed, but when they emerged, the bag was gone, the office said. It was later found inside a trash bin, but the gold chain was missing. The uniformed man was identified as 39-year-old Newark resident Antonio Moore, who is employed by the Paterson Fire Department’s emergency medical services unit, according to Passaic County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Peter Foy.
