Corey Johnson, 28, had been in critical condition at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune until 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, theThe confrontation took place after Johnson’s former wife called police from her job to say she got a notification from her Ring doorbell camera that Johnson was inside her home at about 8:40 p.m. Monday, authorities said.
The woman left work and drove home, but Johnson blocked her in with his vehicle when she pulled into the complex’s parking lot, according to prosecutors. When a Brick police officer arrived and got out of his patrol vehicle, Johnson fired a shot that struck the officer’s windshield, prosecutors said. Johnson, of Brick, then turned the gun on himself, authorities said. The officer suffered minor arm injuries from the glass shards, officials said.
