St. Patrick's Day parades are being held in New Jersey throughout the month of March. Here's the town-by-town schedule.
This year’s statewide schedule ranges from parades in Mount Holly and Nutley on March 4, to Keyport on March 25. Newark’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade, now in its 88th year, is on March 10.with a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church
Of 28 parades surveyed by NJ Advance Media, only one is being held on March 17, the actual St. Patrick’s Day. That’s the, starting at the Police Memorial on Montgomery Street and proceeding on Marin Boulevard to York Street. The parades have grand marshals and multiple honorees. In Seaside Heights, the grand marshal of the Ocean County St. Patrick’s Day Parade is Charlie Frazier, a former high school basketball coach and Little League parent whose three sons all played professional baseball, including retired Mets/Yankees star Todd Frazier.
“We actually had our first planning meeting in September. We have to immediately start booking the bands, since everyone’s in competition for them,” said Larry Doyle, chair of theDoyle is a Queens, N.Y. native and former Somerville council member. All four of his grandparents were born in Ireland.
