Neeme Jarvi, who was symphony's musical director from 2005 to 2009, returned to Newark this weekend
Neeme Jarvi with the New Jersey Symphony. Neeme Jarvi has accomplished much in his long career, leading the finest orchestras in the world and recording over 500 albums. But perhaps his greatest achievement is repeatedly proved the old adage wrong: You can indeed go home again.
With that, Sunday was a bit of a homecoming for Jarvi at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. As part of its centenary season, thehas invited its former music directors to return to conduct. The Estonian-born conductor accepted and performed a program titled: “Neeme Jarvi Conducts Tchaikovsky.”
