BREAKING -- Nancy Pelosi says husband Paul 'making steady progress' but faces 'long recovery'
Paul Pelosi is"making steady progress" but faces a long recovery following a brutal attack by a home intruder last Friday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in an update about her husband on Monday.
Police responded to their San Francisco residence around 2:30 a.m. local time following a 911 call, according to authorities. The alleged assailant, David DePape, 42, had asked for the speaker's whereabouts and had been keen on breaking her kneecaps, according to interviews he did with authorities after his arrest. He also struck Paul Pelosi with a hammer before being detained, per police.
“Thanks to the excellent trauma care medical team at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, Paul is making steady progress on what will be a long recovery process," Nancy Pelosi added in her statement Monday.
