The former All-Star encouraged fans to 'do their research' after receiving backlash.

There were a lot of “unfollow” comments, too. But there were plenty of commenters who besides supporting Rodman, couldn’t help but point out that he has long been a supporter of the community and that many of the hateful comments had to have been coming from followers who didn’t really know who Dennis Rodman was to begin with.

“Literally don’t understand how you hating on Rodman for this,” another person wrote. “Like why you even following Rodman and this comes as a surprise? He was doing this 20 years ago.”Rodman also responded to the negative commenters writing, “Do your research guys #beenhim”.This was just Rodman being Rodman and being vocal about a group that he has long advocated for.

He finished his career with 6,683 points, 11,954 rebounds — he averaged 13.1 per game — and 1,600 assists.
